Not satisfied with being one out of a hundred and one puppies, Patch is always trying to be the one that stands out among his brothers and sisters. Patch is obsessed with a television series that stars his favorite super dog Thunderbolt. During a commercial break Patch hears that Thunderbolt is coming to London to shoot a few episodes of the show, and that there is a chance to meet Thunderbolt, but while watching the show he hears that his owners plan on moving themselves and all of the dogs to a new place in the country. This however is not the plan that Patch has in mind, as he will do anything to meet Thunderbolt. But Patch may just get that chance as he is left behind when his family moves to the country. When Patch gets the chance to meet his favorite television dog star. While meeting Thunderbolt, his then sidekick Lighting reveals that the producer of the show are looking for a new dog to take Thunderbolts place. Thunderbolt however has better ideas, and in order to save his job he goes out into the real world to fight crime and prove that only he is the one for the role. With Patch in tow to help Thunderbolt experience real life on the streets the perfect villain is about to reel her ugly head back into the crime scene. Cruella De Vil is back with a vengeance and is now even more obsessed with getting her hands on the spotty dogs than ever. |

101 Dalmatians 2: Patch's London Adventure has your basic animated violence where some crazy things do happen but none of the villains or heroes in the film suffer a dire injury or face death. Towards the film conclusion Cruella De Vil and her gang are run down by Patch and Thunderbolt and run right dab into a river. No one get's seriously hurt, but it's a pretty action packed scene with some of the villains being rescued by Police dogs. Cruella is thrown into a padded room on wheels and sent right to the loony bin because of her obsession with spots and Dalmatians. There is also your basic put downs by Cruella and her gang, but no hash language is used at all, and as always Disney steers clear of any kind of foul language. Patch himself does get into some trouble and is very elusive and brave when it comes to him being in dangerous situations, where he risk life and limb to save others besides himself. Overall the movie does not have anything to harmful for kids to watch, but there is those little animated bits that might be of concern. Also, and as always with the 101 Dalmatians films, it's most negative thing is Cruella De Vil very nasty smoking habit, of which Disney makes the smoke look like a gross slimy green color to let children know that smoking is something gross.

Using a very similar animation as the first film, but giving it a more up to date look, Disney manages to capture the feel of the first film while taking the story in a whole other direction and focusing the film on some new characters, this time Patch and Thunderbolt and less on the characters of the first film. While it's a movie mainly for kids to watch, I found myself somewhat enjoying the story, but felt that many of the loveable (and not so loveable) characters of the first film took a back seat to the new ones. The movie is aimed more at the children of today than it was for us when we were younger. It has more fast paced action and brighter animation to keep pace with today's youth. I would say it's best suited for kids ages six and up. The DVD has many features including a great behind the scenes documentary about the making of the film and the cast assembled to do the voices. (As well as dogs). There is also a new game called Patch's Twilight Adventure", "Try Again" music video, Lost in London game, "Your the One" music video and Thunderbolt: a look Inside featurette. There is also plenty of trailers for other Disney titles on the disc, even for DVD releases for 2009, as well as many more features. Overall, I'd say Disney yet again proves that even with a lot of their direct to DVD sequels, they can still put together a disc that gives the fans what they deserve. Well worth the buy for any fan or the 101 Dalmatians films or Disney fans in general. This disc will be available for a limited time only so get your copy while they are out on DVD now, so you don't miss adding this new Disney classic to your collection.
