SYNOPSIS

   Baby Einstein DVD's are the leading educational  discs for children teaching them everything from numbers, shapes, letters, animals, and more. Each episode has a series of colorful photos, puppets, and toys shot in close up with crystal clear imagery, that are able to catch the attention of children from as young a three months old to three and four year olds.

   Baby Einstein: Baby's First Sounds, is a disc that explores the octaves and punctuation of sounds that will help children learn to speak. The disc does this in not only English but in several other languages. The disc also incorporates well known nursery rhymes, like Humpty Dumpty and also some well known children's songs such as Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. It also uses animal sounds to help teach children how to pronounce words.

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language

    If you've ever laid eyes on a Baby Einstein DVD you know right from the cover that they are perfectly safe for children of all ages. So no worries about violence, graphic content or any bad language. They are most likely the safest DVD on the market.

OVERALL VIEWS

   Overall, it's very hard to write a review for a DVD that is more or less just meant to teach young children, rather than present them with a story or plot which I'm used to reviewing.  My wife and I have purchased several Baby Einstein discs for my daughter, whom absolutely loves them. My daughter has a hard time sitting though even five minutes of any show on TV, and Baby Einstein discs are the only thing she will actually watch the whole way though. Despite what any scientists or researchers say, Baby Einstein DVD's do help a child learn.  My daughter is only a year old, and already she can say more than two dozen words, and if you show her pictures of certain animals such as cows or loins, she will let you know the sounds they make. And even though she can't say the name of them yet, she can recognize certain shapes when you ask her which one is which. Although we can't give all the credit to Baby Einstein for all of those things, as my wife and I are very active with her, they do help educate your young child.

 Baby's First Sound is a decent disc, although I do think it's one of the weakest ones that Disney and the Baby Einstein company have released.  I, as well as a few other parents do have our issues with the disc. While it does do it's job with presenting out children with certain sounds and words, the problem with the overall show is that it's not entirely in English the whole way though. It has a cute beginning which shows children from other countries saying hello in their native languages, the problem however is that the show has some segments in English, some in Spanish and French and other segments in other languages.  This was not only confusing me, but my daughter as well, who actually did lose interest after the scene involving cows.  At first I thought that maybe I accidently hit a button on the remote that changed the language of the show, but then I learned that the DVD did not have the feature for you to choice the language in which you would like your children to watch it in. That was a big mistake on the production companies part as this is actually very confusing for children. Why I think it's beneficial for children to learn other languages, I don't think this is the correct way to present it to them.

   Baby Einstein DVDs are great for young children, and there is no better show to introduce your children too then  Baby Einstein. But I must agree with the masses of parents who have complained about this disc on Amazon.com and Yahoo. When they say that this DVD does more to confuse your kids when it comes to first words than it does in teaching them. Still, the disc. is still full of great and colorful images and music that have made Baby Einstein products the best when it comes to helping educate our children.
