SYNOPSIS

Click HereAdam Sandler is a Skeeter Bronson, a hotel handyman.  When Skeeter was younger his father owned the hotel, but lost it due to financial difficulty. Thus, he sold the hotel to Skeeter's new boss, Mr. Barry Nottingham (Richard Griffiths) who once promised Skeeter's father that if Skeeter worked hard he would let him run the hotel when he was older. But times have changed, and Skeeter is looked upon as that guy who fixes things in the hotel. When Skeeter's sister (Courteney Cox) has to go job hunting in Arizona, she asks Skeeter if she can watch her two kids during the night, while Jill ( Keri Russell) a family friend, will take care of the kids during the day. Skeeter has no clue what to do with the kids, their mother won't let them watch television or eat junk food, so Skeeter tells them bedtimes stories, like his father used to tell him when he was little. However Skeeter finds that the stories that he is telling the kids are coming to life the next day,  Skeeter then realizes he can use these made up stories to better his life, but in the process he soon learns that it's not his stories that are coming true, but the kids stories. The ones they tell, are the ones that are coming true, and Skeeter is the main character in them.

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language

To be honest with everyone, I was laughing so hard at this movie, I really felt everything was more comical than anything.  There is a lot of goofball like violence, but nothing is really heavy or over the top. There are some guns shot off, in a Cowboys and Indians fight, as well as a futuristic laser battle scene. The funny thing is that lasers turn into hands that slap their opponent.  There is also a part where a character is hit with a fire ball and is incinerated. There is so kicking and hitting throughout the movie, even a little person kicks Skeeter in the shins a few times in the movie. There are also a lot of tense action scenes involving our characters stealing a motorcycle to get to the school quicker, where they are swerving in and out of cars. The two kids go missing in one scene and enter a structure that is about to be blown up. They are rescued by Skeeter, who jumps from the motorcycle and grabs onto and swings from a tetherball pole, kicking the villain of the film named Kendall in the face and knocking him out before he blows up the structure. In a Home Depot, Skeeter sprays a fireproof coating in his eyes as well as an employee's eyes. Skeeter also stomps on an obese man's stomach who is lying on a beach choking. He of course saves his life.

The film does have some alcohol related content, such as a women who is accused of drinking the hotel liquor in her room and refusing to pay for it. She says a leprechaun drank it all.  Skeeter and Jill go to a bar to get drinks, and Skeeter's bosses daughter, who is a Paris Hilton type is asks Skeeter in one of the stories to drink with her in a hot tub.

The film has some language in it, but most of it is light things like "Stupid" and "Idiot".  Skeeter refers to his rival Kendal as "Sir Butt-kiss". Also an Indian played by Rob Schneider calls Skeeter White-bread. There is an angry little person who claims he hates big people. After the fact he kicked Skeeter in the shins. Other than that there are a few lies told here and there.

OVERALL VIEWS

Despite some of the mild violence and graphic content, I really didn't see this movie as one a parent should be over concerned about. Disney really dumbs down the content, and with Adam Sandler putting aside some swears and fart jokes, the movie is very funny in a very clean way. Some parents may not want their kids to see some of the things in the film, but I think it's suitable for kids over the age of six.

The movie is full of a lot of family fun and also has some good moral stories in it as well. Where Skeeter uses the kids story for self gain, the children are the ones in control and the real lesson is taught to Skeeter whom the stories are aimed at. Other than all the good and bad things the film has to offer, I found it to be one of the best comedies I've seen in a very long time. I haven't laughed this hard at comedy aimed at children since I saw Home Alone in theaters almost two decades ago. The comedy for the most part is very clean, and the acting, production value and not the mention the script are all top notch.

The Blu-ray combo pack includes the movie on DVD as well as a digital copy of the movie. The special features include a hilarious bloopers reel and deleted scenes, a feature called "Get to Know Bugsy the Big Eyed Guinea Pig" as well as a behind the scenes look at the special effects in the movie. You can also connect though B-Disney's Live Network to chat about the film, punch in your movie rewards code and shop at the movie mall.

Overall, Bedtime Stories is a great family filled adventure, I don't think its a movie that is suitable for younger kids, but think it's safe and fun enough for kids over the age of six. My wife and I haven't laughed this hard during a movie in a long time and as I said to her while we were watching it, I never thought I'd see an Adam Sandler movie where there would be no swearing and stupid fart jokes. This is probably his funniest movie ever, and every joke and prank are very well thought out to appeal to an younger audience and adults alike. This is a movie that I highly recommend you buy or rent.
