SYNOPSIS

Walt Disney Treasures: The Chronological Donald Volume 3 is a look at all of the Donald Duck cartoons created by Disney studios from 1947 though 1950.  All of the cartoons are shorts that feature Donald as his crazy hotheaded self, some of them include Academy Award winning shorts such as Chip An' Dale, Tea For Two Hundred and Toy Tinker.  There are also the great more known Donald Cartoons of that time such as Donald's Dilemma(1947). The collection also includes many more from the Disney vault  such as Clown of the Jungle, Three For Breakfast, Donald's Happy Birthday and Bee At The Beach.  Plus there are many bonus material features such as The Many Faces of Donald Duck, Donald Duck on the Mickey Mouse Club, Sculpting Donald and more...

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language

One of my reasons for saying that I believe these films should be shown for children ages eight and up is because back when these films were made it was OK to include some cartoon violence in these films. There were a lot of things while watching these classic cartoons of the past that I don't think would be normally accepted today by some parents as being suitable for their young children to see. Granted that these cartoons are harmless in their storytelling, but the fact of the matter is that they still have a degree of what would be considered harmless carton violence. Such stunts include the use of pellet guns, some screaming and wining and hot headedness from Donald Duck, your basic bullying of other characters, the old smack over the head with a foreign object and so on. Personally I don't think it's a big issue but I know some of you reading this might think otherwise so I'm just letting you know as a precaution that these cartoon do contain some comical, mild violence.

OVERALL VIEWS

Having always been a fan of Disney cartoons as a child, I was really happy to go back into the past a bit and see some of these cartoon bought back to life again on DVD. Though I can't remember if I've seen these or not as they were produced before my parents were even born, I do remember watching Disney cartoon like this growing up in the late nineteen seventies and early eighties.  Disney really knows how to put a collection of rare gems together and this collection is proof of that.

Not many people know this but during the nineteen thirties Donald Duck was more popular than Mickey Mouse was, even though Mickey is the symbol of all things Disney. This collection also has some of Donald's encounters with some of Disney's many beloved characters such as Chip and Dale, Donald's nephew's Hewey, Dewey and Louie and of course Daisy Duck as well.

If your a fan of Walt Disney 's cartoon today and from the past, if you want your children to appreciate the history of some of their favorite Disney cartoon characters that they watch on The Disney Channel and in movies today, then you need to pick up this set on DVD. They are a piece of history that should never be forgotten  and are a true testament to Walt Disney himself and all the joy he has bought to the world not only in his life, but in his death as well.
