The Review

Ice Age has become one of the most successful animated franchises, and with the forth film set to hit theaters next year why not release the Ice Age Christmas special on Blu-ray for families to enjoy.

Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special follows Manny and company to the North Pole. When Manny ends up on Santas naughty list for breaking Manny special Christmas rock, he ends up taking a trip to the North Pole along with Mannys daughter. Upset by this Manny and the gang goes after them and ends up on a huge Christmas adventures that involves help from one of Santas reindeers and Santa himself. However, Manny and company with have to believe in the magic of Christmas and help Santa restore the North Pole in the traditional spirit of Christmas.

While the movie itself was made for television and only has a running time of thirty minutes, there are still plenty of features on both the Blu-ray and DVD. These features include a sneak peak at the forth installment in the Ice Age franchise, Ice Age: Continental Drift, and a music video for Swingin Jingle Bells. Both of these features are included on both the Blu-ray and DVD that come with the combo pack.

Overall, Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special is a fun little family show to watch. I find that the shorter the films are the easier they hold the attention of younger children. Both my children sat down quietly and enjoyed this one and the short running time is perfect if you need to settle the kids down during the holidays while waiting for family to arrive, dinner to be served or just to keep them occupied during this busy season. Its also a great film for the whole family to watch and is well with picking up as a gift or to keep for yourself and your family.
