THE REVIEW |

|
Iron Man is a great all around movie, being a super hero film it's fun and full of adventure. Most young kids probably want to see the film because it looks like fun action movie to watch, and that it is. However, the character of Tony Stark is not one that you may want your kids looking up to as a role model, not at least in the beginning of the film. He's a playboy, and hot shot millionaire who drinks, gambles and engages with a new women whenever he gets the chance. In the end he does redeem himself and become a much better person, but that's only half of the concerns this film presents. There is a lot of guns, fighting, and so on. This might be to much action for younger kids, especially those who may be a bit sensitive to killing and big explosions etc... I would say that maybe kids over the age of ten can handle it if you feel as a parent they can deal with the many things I listed below in the "What Makes this film PG-13" Section. Other than that your teenagers will be able to handle the film no problem. And what a great movie it is.
I can sit here and write about how wonderful the script was and the acting and overall production value, blah, blah, blah... But the fact is everyone who's laid eyes on this film has already said that. It is one of the best produced super hero films ever made. Robert Downey Jr. was perfectly cast as Tony Stark and he played the character perfectly. Even the supporting cast of Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Tony's assistant were all wonderful in their respected roles. The rest of the remaining cast was great as well right down to the myspace solider in the humvee. The script was perfect, I don't have one bad thing to say about it, and the production value was outstandingly perfect. Everything from the set design to the visual effects were top notch. The IRON MAN suit it's self was probably the best super hero outfits to ever be presented on the big screen. It was so perfect looking it made the suit in the comic books look like a pair of children's pajamas. That's how great it looked.
Overall, I can't praise this film enough, it's one of those film where it is hard to find a flaw in the script, acting or production value. It was perfectly produced, and the story was top notch. By far IRON MAN is one of the best superhero films ever made right up there with the likes of BATMAN BEGINS and SPIDER-MAN. Also wait for the credits to end as we get a sneak peak of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and get a hint that there will be an AVENGERS movie. Not only will fan's of the comic book enjoy this film, but I think anyone who's into action, superhero or fantasy or sci-fi films will love this one.
This DVD is perfect for a Christmas gift for your teenage son, nephew or any teen in your life, or adult who loves superhero movies. Paramount has done all the work for you by wrapping it up and putting a cool looking Iron Man sleeve over it. The DVD is the single disc version presented in widescreen format with Dolby Digital format. the special features on the disc include deleted and extended scenes. Overall it makes a great gift for someone special in your life who loves their movies, and this is one movie that they'll be sure to love.
