SYNOPSIS |

|
Johnny and the Sprites is one of the many shows that plays on Playhouse Disney on the Disney Channel. the show revolves around the enchanted woods of Grotto's Grove where a community of sprites work and play everyday to keep the woods beautiful and flourishing. Johnny's house and garden are right near the woods and only he has the ability to communicate with and see the sprites. Four sprites in particular that are good friends of Johnny are Basil, Lily, Ginger and little Root. All of them visit Johnny almost everyday and they sing, dance and play together. But that's not the only thing they do, they also solve problems together, learn from their mistakes, and learn how to make friends. Each episode is full or adventures and fun and learning for everyone. |

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language |

There is not one bit of violence, bad language or graphic content in any of the Johnny and the Sprite shows, but there are a few things that parents should be aware of that some younger children might not be able to comprehend. While I'll recommend this show for kids over the age of one years old, there are some things about the show such as the problem solving issues that Johnny and the sprites face and solve in each episode. They teach very good lessons to kids about how to appreciate others and the things in the world that surround us, which are all very positive things. But I just want parents to be aware that some of the issues some kids might not be able to comprehend or except right away. It's a great DVD that shows kids the right way to do things in life as well as respect everyone and everything around them.

OVERALL VIEWS |

From an adult point of view Johnny and the Sprite are to our kids what the Muppet Show and Fraggle Rock where to us when we were younger. The show has some great music and dancing that will get even the youngest of children interested. My one year old who would rather sit on the floor and look at picture books than watch television actually got up and danced along with the music, and was very much into the animated puppets that she saw on the screen. She only lasted about one episode before getting bored, but the show actually had her up and dancing around the living room with a smile on her face. Johnny and the Sprites is a television show that parents won't have to worry about anything bad being taught to their kids. It's a a very child friendly and family friendly show that teaches children about respect for each other, respect for their environment and gives them good life lessons to learn from. It's also full of great songs that will get your kids up off the couch and keep them singing and dancing though each episode. Disney is the prime source for the best in children's entertainment and helping them learn though their programs on the Disney Channel. Just like many of their other shows on Playhouse Disney, Johnny and the Sprites is just another great educational show that Disney brings to the table. The DVD includes a few episodes from the television show, a music video, a music time sing along with Johnny and the Sprites and original short episodes. It's a great DVD for your kids to enjoy over and over again.
