The Review

One of the funny things about reviewing some of Disney’s DVDs is that some of them are cartoons and shows that play every day on The Disney Channel.  The morning I woke and planned to watch Handy Manny: Motorcycle Adventure and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo-Choo Express; both episodes were playing on the channel back to back as part of Playhouse Disney in the morning on The Disney Channel.  Thus, the only thing I really had to view on the discs was the special features.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Choo-Choo Express features all the classic Disney characters such as Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy Duck, Goofy and Pluto as they set out on another fun filled adventure with their clubhouse computer tootles, solve problems together, and learn new things. In this film, Mickey and the gang join Ludwig von Drake as he creates a new train for the clubhouse members where each part of the train is a different shape. The gang takes the train up on top of a mountain and they gather never-melting Easy-Freezy snow and bring back to the clubhouse for their winter party in the summer. After getting the snow, the gang must race against the clock to pick up their guests on the train and make it back by six o’clock to get the party started. With the help of tootles, the gang will use tools and objects to get though any obstacles in their way and make it back to the clubhouse just in time for the party.

What I like about Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is that Disney took their most famous character and put them into an educational setting for younger children.  My daughter loves this show and has learned a lot from watching it, not only does the show teach basic shapes, numbers, colors and letters, but it also teaches kids on a daily basic about different object and what each object can be used for in a certain situation. When I was younger, I did not know what half the objects in my mother’s kitchen were used for.  My daughter can name many objects that she is way to young to use, nonetheless even needs to know about at her age. Yet the show teaches kids about these things and its not only educational for them but entertaining as well.

The DVD has a bonus episode “Mickey’s Big Job” which has an interactive adventure feature with 3 fun ways to watch and play.  The DVD also features a song “Choo Choo Express” performed by Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’s own band, and hit recording artists “They Might Be Giants”.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is one of the cartoons that I enjoy most on television every morning with my daughter.  I for one love the way the show is animated and the bright colors look great on my High Definition Television.  On the other hand, it is a very educational cartoon as well, and it features all of classic Disney characters that I grew up watching.  It is a DVD well worth picking up if your children are into the show, and is great for children of all ages to enjoy.
