SYNOPSIS |

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End starts off where the second film left off, Will, Elizabeth and the rest of Jack crew team up with Captain Barbossa whom we learn was bought back from the dead by Tia Dalma in order to help free Captain Jack Sparrow from Davy Jones's locker. The crew travel to worlds End where they plunge over a great waterfall and end up in Davy Jones's locker and find and rescue Jack. When they make it back to the real world they realize that a lot of bad things are happening. The British army in control of Davy Jones heart, is controlling him and the crew of the Flying Dutchman and making them destroy all the pirate vessels they come across in the sea, as well as any other troubles that should arise. Jack, Elizabeth, Will and Barbossa now make a trip towards shipwreck cove to convince the other pirate lords to help them fight against the British navy and Davy Jones. However along the way they will face certain problems and betrayals before they make it to shipwreck cove. The film comes to a climatic battle scene ending where the fate of the pirate world is at stake.

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language |

Violence There is plenty of sword fighting, gun shooting, explosions and most of all canon blasts and ship sinkings; however we don't see one drop of blood in the film. (Thanks to Disney who knows how to get that PG-13 rating here in the states). We also get a lot of fist fighting and kicking as well, but nothing that is too over the top. It's your typical pirate film and the characters in the film do what pirates normally do. Graphic Content There is a lot more graphic content in this film, but the acts that are being applied where shot in such a way that we don't see some of the action which would obviously result in some unpleasant images if we did. The movie begins with a mass hanging of British citizens whom have been accused of helping out pirates and breaking certain laws that would pertain to helping out a pirate. While we do see the nooses being put around the necks of the people, we don't see them hanged from the feet up. However we do get a shot of their feet falling though the gallows in this scene. But what makes the scene more disturbing and one that might frighten little children is a boy about eight to ten years of age is the center piece of this mass hanging. the executor even puts the boy up on a barrel so his neck can reach the noose. The boy is hanged, but it's not shown on camera. There is also a shot of bodies being piled on a cart in the scene as well. But before the boy is hanged the scene cuts to black. As mentioned above the film is shot in such a way that it does not show you what assumed to be graphic images, but implies it. There is another scene in which two pirates look though a floorboard up Elizabeth's dress, A scene in which a characters heart is cut out, a women grows into a giant monster and then turns into crabs. Davy Jones and his crew all look like hideous sea creatures as in the second film. There is a shot where one of the deckhands pulls off his frozen big toe as the ship sails though the artic. (No blood in this scene, but the toe is shown being pulled off.) and then we have a shot of Davy Jones heart beating inside a small treasure chest. Language While there is really no major swear word in this film, there are certain words used to put down some of the characters in the film. Most of the insulting is done in pirate talk however, but it's still something you might not want your young children to hear. There is also a scene in which Johnny Depp's character of Jack Sparrow is delusional and is talking to himself because he is caught up in another world that is very similar to what some believe hell might be like. Although it's never mentioned like that in the film. On another note there is a lot of betrayal and greed going on in the film as well, but what do you expect, like I said above it's a film about pirates.

OVERALL VIEWS |

Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End is a fun film to watch, while it does contain a lot of things that some parents might find unsuitable for their young children to watch; Disney does a good job in hiding anything that would be considered to graphic and not one scene contains any kind of blood being spilled. The film has wonderful production value, great acting and is an overall fun adventure film. I personally enjoyed the first two films better, but this one does stand on it's own and does wrap the whole trilogy. There are a lot of great visual effects that are sure to keep your children's eyes glued to the screen however my recommendation is to not show this film to children under the age of twelve especially if their not mature enough to deal with the certain images I described above. If your young son or daughter however is into the Pirates Of The Caribbean toys and likes pirates in general and you don't think they would be affected by the content, then I'd say a child whom is maybe around ten years of age and mature enough to understand that the action is fake would probably be able to get though this film without being to scared. However my advice is for you as parent to watch the film first and decide if your child can handle the film. It's a fun family film to enjoy all around especially with your young teenagers and their friends, or for those family nights you have planned.
