The Review

I've always been a fan of James Bond movies, and being that it's the most successful running franchise in movie history with 22 films produced by EON Productions plus two other films that were not produced by by EON, which include the 1967 version of Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again, which was a remake of Thunderball. Quantum of Solace is the 22nd film in the EON produced series, and while I don't think it's one of the better bond films, it does hold its own.

For me the last two Bond films have not been the greatest.  I know a lot of people like Casino Royale, but for me it just didn't have the Bond action I was spoiled with during the nineties when Pierce Brosnan was 007. Ever since Daniel Craig took over the films seem to be more inclined on telling a complex story than hitting us with hardcore action.  Not to say that Quantum of Solace has no action, it has plenty of it, a lot more than we get with Casino Royale.  The thing is none of the action scenes seemed original. Every stunt and high climatic scene was full of actions we've all seen before. While I  like Daniel Craig as an actor and being that he has only played Bond in two films, I'm still getting used to him in the role. I really enjoyed Pierce Brosnan in the role, and while I think Roger Moore's Bond was probably the best out of all of the actors who have dawned the role; I still think Craig has a lot more to add to the franchise.

The DVD includes a music video for the song "Another Way to Die" as well as the Theatrical Trailers.  The Two-Disc Special Edition DVD includes all that the single disc does plus the following features: Bond on Location” 24-minute special featurette, A Start of Shooting featurette, On Location featurette, Olga Kurylenko and the Boat Chase, Director Marc Forster, features on the music of the film as well as the Crew Files. The Blu-ray disc includes all of these features as well but is presented in High Definition.

Overall, Quantum of Solace is not the best Bond movie ever made, but it does hold it's own.  It has a decent story and plenty of action scenes to hold any fan or viewer of the film over. It's got all the greatness that a Bond film should have and the character is still the same as always.  It's well worth checking out and the DVD has plenty of special features that look at the movie as well as the Bond character more up close and personal.
