The Review
We have seen the Buddies do many thing in their series of films, they first started out with them playing sports, the second film had them in the snow, and the third one in space, and now the forth installment has them helping out their friends in the north pole and Santa Claus himself. Santa Buddies is the forth film in Disney’s Buddies series. In this heartwarming film the buddies find themselves traveling to the north pole to help out a dog named Puppy Paws the son of Santa Paws find the true meaning of Christmas. In this adventure, trouble comes to them first when Puppy Paws leaves the North Pole. He finds Budderball on Santa's naughty list and figures he's just the dog to show him how to be your average dog. However, back in the North Pole, the magical Christmas icicle is beginning to melt. This can only mean one thing; people are beginning not to believe in the spirit of Christmas and the true meaning behind the holiday. The Buddies then agree to travel to the North Pole with their newfound friend and help save Christmas for everyone. The Buddies films play a lot in my house, My little one watches at least one of the films a week. I was actually very excited to get this one, because I can only take so much of the other films and it was nice to see a new adventure involving the Buddies come about. There is something about talking puppies that just grabs everyone’s attention and these films really work on both a comedic and dramatic levels. Santa Buddies is a film that does start off a bit slower than the others, and while I think it’s the weaker of the films in the series it’s still a good one. All your favorite Buddies are back, Budderball, B-Dawg, Rosebud, Buddha and Mudbud, along with some new canine friends. It’s amazing the adventures the filmmakers put these dogs on and how they pull them off using live animals. The great thing about this film is that the story grabs the attention of young children and as with all the Buddies movies; there is a lesson to be learned. Out of all the Buddies movies Santa Buddies probably has the best lesson of all and it involves the true meaning of the holidays. No! not opening presents and getting all the toys they want. However, the true importance of helping one another out as well as enjoying the season with friends and family. The Blu-ray disc is packed with plenty of great holiday features. First and foremost if you buy the Blu-ray disc it also comes with the DVD. One thing you have to give Disney credit for is that they have been packing their blu-ray discs with the DVD of the film as well. Blu-ray will eventually replace the DVD format, so even if you do not have a Blu-ray player now, you can buy the disc and put the Blu-ray aside until you buy your player. The Blu-ray disc includes the film, A Christmas Carols sing along with the Buddies, and a “Santa Clause is Coming to Town” music video. The DVD also includes those same features as well. Both discs have English, Spanish and French subtitles and the SDH feature for the deaf and hearing impaired. Santa Buddies is a film that is sure to become a Holiday classic for your children to cherish for years to come. It is a fun little film for the whole family. I think it is a film that is safe for children of all ages to watch despite some intense little action scenes here and there. My daughter really enjoys the Buddies films, and it’s her approval that I trust when it comes to writing my many reviews of children’s films. Even if your children have never seen any of the Buddies films before, this is the perfect time of the year to pick up this movie for them.
