SYNOPSIS |

One of Walt Disney's most beloved characters has finally got her own movie. Tinker Bell! Follow Tink from the beginning, as she is born a fairy into the small fairy village of Pixie Hollow. This is the story of how Tinker Bell got her start in Neverland. In her first adventure, Tink is born a Tinker fairy, fairies who create and invent things. But Tinker Bell is not really happy being a Tinker fairy at first, as Tinker fairies are considered the lower class of fairies in Pixie Hollow. Tinker Bell however believes she is just as talented as all the other fairies of Pixie Hollow and tries to prove it to all the other fairies. But Tinker Bell will soon learn that her true talent is as a Tinker, and that this talent just might help the fairies save Spring, before it's to late. |

I watched Tinker Bell a few times to see if I can find anything within the film that might be of concern. There really isn't much, but there are a few minor things that I feel I should warn parents about. There is a tug of war like relationship between Tinker Bell and another fairy named Vidia. Vidia is a fairy that thinks she's a bit better than all the other fairies because of her job status. She is kind of the villain of the film, although there really is not much of a focus on her as one. This movie is more of a coming of age story in a way where Tinker Bell learns her place among the fairies and their world. Vidia and Tinker Bell do have a very heated argument towards the end of the film, where Tinker Bell gets angry enough that her face turns red. There are a few angry words exchanged, but not in a form of language where it is much of a concern. the word "Stupid" is used once or twice, but that's about the extend of any language issues. Tinker Bell even during her Peter Pan days can be a rebel and have a attitude problem. Although this film is actually the story of her birth and the younger years of her life, that rebellious attitude does show up a littler here and there. Some of the action in the film might be of some concern as well, for example two of the films characters (Clank and Bobble) mess around with a perfume bottle where on sprays perfume into another's mouth. Clank and Bobble are male fairies that sometimes disagree with one another, but are actually like two peas in a pod. They are both very adventurous and as Tinker Bell is a new "Tinker" fairy, she sometimes ends up getting in trouble with them and their pet mouse named Cheese. Tinker Bell and Vidia also run into some trouble with a hawk as well. For parents who want to teach their kids the values and morals of their religion, I will warn you that this film in a fun way, shows fairies as one's responsible for the changing of the seasons and the ones that control nature. So this is a fair warning if you don't want your child watching a film that says fairies are responsible for creation. Other than the few minor things listed above, Disney always goes out of their way to make sure that their animated features are safe for all children to watch, and why Tinker Bell and her friends to have some mischievous adventures, it's an overall fun film for kids to enjoy.

I first watched Tinker Bell with my nineteen mouth old daughter, She really had a blast with the film, but at times did wander off to play with her toys. I think the great animation is to thank for keeping her interested. It's a movie that is full of beautiful vibrant colors, that reflect the beauty of nature in all it's glory. Honestly, while I think younger kids will be in awe of the films beauty, I think they really won't be able to grasp the concept of the story. So I think the film is more suitable for children ages four and up. Tinker Bell is a film that does pull all the stops and there are even some familiar actors lending their voice to some of Tinker Bell's friends and acquaintances in the movie. Such talent includes Raven-Symone (That's So Raven, College Road Trip) America Ferrera (Ugly Betty) Lucy Liu (Kung Fu Panda, Charles's Angels) Mae Margaret Whitman (Jungle Book 2, Independence Day) as the voice of Tinker Bell; and Anjelica Huston ( The Addams Family) as Queen Clarion. Besides the voice talent whom all did a great job in their respected roles, the real credit goes to the animators and story writers who researched every aspect of how to bring this film to life. There is a great featurette called Creating Pixie Hollow where there are interviews with the filmmakers who bought this movie to life and how they studied all aspects of the world around us and nature to make the movie relate to nature as much as possible. Everything from the flowers in the foreground to the costumes of the fairies was all created by studying the world around us. For a direct to DVD release, Disney didn't cut any corners with the animation in this one. I can't praise it more. The DVD has many other features such as DVD-ROM activates such as Tinker Trainer, a Magical Guide to Pixie Hollow and Ever Wonder where you can discover how Fairies put the fun and wonder into nature. All new music video's performed by Selena Gomez, and Deleted scenes. Overall, this is one great DVD package, and I'm sure the Blu-ray disc is packed with even better features. Let's just put it this way, with the quality look, sound and picture of the DVD, The Blu-ray disc must look beyond great. Because the animation and picture quality of this Disney DVD is flawless. Your kids will love this film, and it will make one heck of a great present under the Christmas tree this year. Also this is not the only Tinker Bell that will be made, as another adventure for the fairy will hit DVD shelves sometime next year. Disney has themselves a winner with an old Disney friend, and finally Tinker Bell gets to tell her story before she and Peter Pan started their adventures together.
