SYNOPSIS |

This animated Transformers DVD is very similar in story to recent live action film, with a few differences. It takes place in the 22nd century in the city of Detroit. The city is very much like Silicon Valley is today, a place where anyone into technology is working, and robotics are at there prime. However Detroit still has it's crime rate and is also a city of criminal activity. Meanwhile on another planet a group of survivor robots known as the Autobots are traveling though space looking for a complex machine known as the Allspark which holds all the secrets to the universe, on there tale is their enemy known as the Decepticons. Avoiding their enemies the Autobots crash into lake Erie on earth. Years later the Autobots emerge from the lake after keeping themselves in a state of hibernation in order to hide their whereabouts. They go out into the city of Detroit and befriend some humans, however there is trouble in the city and a group of criminals are trying to take hold of the city. The Autobots transform from their automobile and truck disguises and help the good people of the city fight the very crime that threatens to destroy them.

VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language |
There is some violence and maybe what some might consider to be graphic content. There are multiply fight scenes between the Autobots (Good Guys) and the Decepticons (Bad guys). It your basic fight with punches thrown and robot blaster guns going off hitting one another. Sure there is no blood as they are robots but these fights do put many of the human characters in harms way. There is a lot of violent destruction of building and other properties, and a bunch of other miscellaneous little things here and there. Sure it is all animated, and it's done in such a way that many of the human character are hardly hurt, but there is a scene that does involve the death of one of the main characters, but he does so saving the city. As far as bad language or insults, there is nothing to be concerned about, but there is a few slang words thrown around among the characters, but nothing to get upset about and the robots do have a few words for one another, but nothing that is a big concern.

OVERALL VIEWS |

If you have seen the live action Transformers movie that was directed by Michael Bay, the plot for this cartoon is very similar to the movie, except that it does have a few differences with the plot and there are different human characters. Personally I liked the movie better and found this DVD to be a bit more of toned down version of the movie, meant for the younger crowd. As an adult I got kind of bored watching this DVD, and did find my mind wandering and being distracted by other more important things. I do however think that young boys who like there robots, and power rangers will without a doubt be very entertained with this DVD. I think it's best suited for boy and girls ages seven or over, as it does have a few violent scenes. This is a DVD where as a parent it really depends on how sensitive your child is. It is a cartoon, but it does have a few animated moments of violence.
