I grew up with two sisters. Myself being the oldest, I had my fair share of toys produced by Hasbro, Transformers, G.I. Joe, Star Wars, you name it. My younger sister however was really into My Little Pony. Every time a new pony was released by Hasbro, my sister took her allowance money, went to the toy store and bought as many as she could with the money she had. Once the cartoon started to appear and were available on VHS, my days of watching what I wanted on television were over and I was forced on a daily basis to watch the My Little Pony movie. That was over twenty something years ago, and now I have a young daughter who is walking in her aunts footsteps and has taken a liking to My Little Pony as well. While she doesn’t have as many my little pony toys as her aunt did when she was young, my daughter does have a few, but she really enjoys the my little pony discs that we have for her to watch and what harm would it be to add another one to the pile. My Little Pony: Twinkle Wish Adventure is a Christmas My Little Pony movie that follows a few of the ponies on an adventure to save the wishing star from a dragon. Every year the ponies cannot wait for the Winter Wishes Festival where the wishing star grants each pony one wish. But when a few of the younger pony’s are entrusted with the star, they soon lose track of it and have to take a hot air balloon across the land in order to find the wishing star and get it back to pony town in time for the festival. However, a friendly dragon has taken the star and is holding it in a cage. The pony’s will have to convince the dragon that the star is important to them and that they need it for their festival. I have to admit that over the years they really have tamed down the stories in the My Little Pony universe to play to a much younger audience. I remember the first my little pony being full of violence and a scary looking bad guy who turned the ponies into furious fire breathing dragons. Now, the pony adventures seem to be tamed down, with cute little problems and important lesions to be learned. The Dragon in this film is friendly, but is more of an outcast that just wants to fit in with the ponies. The DVD has a few special features that include six songs to sing along too. Waiting for the Winter Wishes Festival” a prequel to the film. “Elefun and Friends: A New Animated Short and downloadable Pony Activities. Overall, there are a few things where the ponies seem like they might be in danger, especially while in the hot air balloon. Other than that, the film is filled with some problem solving issues that teach some important life lessons to the young viewers watching it. It’s a fun filled Christmas film that is suitable for all ages. The DVD has plenty of features that will keep your young child busy for hours.
