VIOLENCE/GRAPHIC CONTENT/language |
Violence There is some violence in this film which mainly just consists of Underdog bouncing off of some of the human villains in the film and fighting with other animals. There are also a few other little things here and there but nothing to crazy where the violence is over the top. Pretty much the film has a lot of action that for the most part is very cartoon like. Graphic Content There is really no graphic content at all in this film to worry about, just some funny rude humor, such as Underdog barking the fur off of another dog. There is a small sub plot however that does show that Dan and Jack Unger are having some problems in their father and son relationship, but in the end it pans out. Language There is a lot of rude humor in the film and some comedic insults but nothing to worry too much about. It is mentioned however that a group of German shepherds in the films do have names like Killer and Destroyer but it's done in a comedic way. So there is really nothing to worry about other than the rude humor and comedic insults.

Underdog was surprisingly not that bad of a film, yet it plot was simple and effective enough for a young child to understand. It's an over the top wise cracking film with a not so serious plot but it does have a good moral outcome about sticking up for oneself and never doubting your ability to do the right thing. It's not the greatest of films for adults to rent but kids will get a kick out of it and it's a film that does have a few good jokes and pokes. The DVD does have a few features such as never before seen bloopers, deleted scenes, a Underdog raps music video, a documentary called Sit, Stay Act Diary of a dog actor which shows how the filmmakers worked with the animals in the film, and there is even an original Underdog cartoon episode. Overall, Underdog does have some rude humor and there are a few scientific word thrown around in the film which might confuse some young children. I recommend this film for children ages seven and above. They might have a few questions about how Underdog got his powers and what's going on with a few things inside the plot of the film, but overall it's a fun little action flick which I'm sure kids will enjoy.
